Tyra Banks-Fierce Bodies

A couple of weeks ago I watched the talkshow ''The View'' and beautiful, smart and talented Tyra Banks was one of the guests on the show.Tyra was talking about women and body image and how our society is crazy about being skinny. Skinny=Beauty!

Who hasn't seen her fierce, real and honest performence in 2007 on her own show, where she told all the haters and bullies to ''kiss her fat ass''! It still makes me tear up and gives me goose bumbs everytime I see it.

Tyra Banks message is about loving and accepting yourself exactly as you are. With all your imperfections. You are beautiful, no matter what! Women and girls come in all different sizes and shapes, size 0 is not the answer to a perfect life. Love your body and who you are, exactly how GOD put you in this amazing world.

Here is my problem with Tyras message- do I believe that you have the right to be the best you can be, mentally, physically and spiritually!? Yes absoloutly but I trully believe that being obesse and unhealthy is not part of being the best you can be. It just sends the wrong message to young women.! Yes curves are sexy and we all come in different shapes and sizes, that's why we are all unique in our own special way. There are women that will never be a size 0 and it doesn't matter, what matters is that they take care of themselves and their bodies. I don't believe that a size 14 should be considered normal and average! I am sorry to tell you, but everybody who eats right and exercises will not be an average oversized size 14. I am not talking about people who have medical issues- we are talking about healthy, strong young women.

I do not accept that our society keeps on opening  clothing stores for overweight people just to make them feel comfortable and make it seem acceptable. It is not acceptable to let yourself go, it is not ok to stuff your face with whatever chemical crap you want to just because it is fine to have '' a few extra pounds''. Get over yourself- curves are sexy, excess wabbely fat is not!!!!

Just like stick thin, sick looking models are sending the wrong message so is Tyra Banks with her ''fierce bodies'' propaganda. Yes, please love yourself with all your flaws but don't use food and no exercise as an excuse to let yourself go. It is not ok- you were not born fat, so do not treat your body like a garbage can.
GOD made you exactly as he intended you to be, but he didn't send all the junk food and TV shows with it. You make that decison!

Please don't tell me that some women just have fuller bodies! Yes, Jennifer Lopez was born with that butt, but she still takes good care of herself and her body. If she would eat burgers, fries and oreos on a daily basis, oh well that curvy butt would look very different, very soon...

It doesn't matter if you are 5ft or 7ft, young, old, man or women, curvy or skinny, just take care of your temple-your body, because you only have one! Life is to short to obsess about your weight, but you still have to be realistic..A healthy body+A healthy mind= Amazing LONG Life!!!

  1. Jennifer,

I COULDN'T RELATE MORE TO YOUR POST !!

    It's So True !

As a 19 year old gay vegan male, who was ostracized and teased by both kids and adults for being extremely skinny as kid...

many of these people had the audacity to critique my body just because my mother cared enough about me to feed us nutritious quality organic foods, and marry a man who did the same...

they weren't used to seeing a "truly" healthy body...

so to cover up their insecurities with being FAT (as most Americans are by world standards)

they chose to attempt to humiliate me, knowing that my body type is preferred.
(Particularly being a slender effeminate gay male, who's attracted to masculine men,
with in terms of attractiveness, is the gay equivalent of a skinny straight female.... HIGHLY sought after and exalted ! )

So I totally agree with what you're saying.

A plus sized store opened in a nearby mall, and I was literally thinking the exact same thing...

It's ok if someone is naturally "big-boned", but advocating obesity is disturbing !

    Being fat/obesity is not healthy,
it's American society's excuse for justifying excessive consumption of fast-food, junk, chemical preservatives, poor behavior, etc.

What's even more disturbing is that we live in a society that doesn't educate it's citizens about true nutrition.

Speaking of Tyra, there is a raw food episode of the show on youtube where she jokes about being "hypnotzed" into going on a raw food diet to lose weight, completely ignorant of the tremendous health benefits of being raw/vegan.

    So sad.

Celebs like her and J.Lo look beyond great for their age... but just imagine how much they can turn back the clock even more if they incorporated at least 60% raw foods in their diets ?

I just truly thank god for letting me be so blessed to have such an extensive knowledge of health/nutrition at a young age !!!

Even though I'm 19, because I eat raw, living foods.... most assume I'm 15/16... some literally gasp in shock... and that's how it's going to stay !!!

    LOL.

Being a devout vegan/raw foodist, I will make darn sure I physically look like I'm in my late teens until I'm (at least)in my early 40s.

Now, as I'm en route to arriving in my 20s...

Having such a tight, trim, slender body ...

Men are starting flock to me like sheep !!!

...oh how the tables are turning ;)

But I just want thank you Jennifer for making such an inspirational blog (I stumbled upon it a few hours ago), and have been reading it ever since !

Just Wanted To let you know that you're definitely not alone in your views.

Thanks For Such a GREAT blog !!
