The Biggest Loser and Subway!!!

The Biggest Loser

I love the Biggest Loser! Love to watch it, love the message, love how they push the contestants to work out and be the best they can be, love the transformations, but it makes me really upset how they keep on promoting Subway sandwiches as a health food...there bread is full of crap, preservatives, dyes and even high fructose corn syrup!
You want to call that health food, I don't think Mc Donald is much worse.

Subway promotes their wheat bread as whole wheat. It is just as bad as white bread, with enriched wheat flower being the first ingredient. Anything that is stripped of its fiber will be recognized by the body as pure sugar. You might as well eat that cake!

High Fructose Corn Syrup really!? I am sure you have all seen the Pro High Fructose Corn Syrup commercials. It is just like sugar and fine in moderation!Ugh..does that mean you have to add it to everything from bread to jelly and ketchup! It is not fine, not even in moderation. It causes obesity, Type 2 diabetes, Hypertension, long term liver damage and studies even found high level of mercury in HFCS, which can cause irreversible brain and nervous system damage.

Their sauces and dressings are not much better. Full of chemicals, preservatives, sugars and saturated fats.
The first ingredient in their ''Sweet Onion Dressing'' is sugar! The first one in their ''Honey Mustard Dressing'' is High Fructose Corn Syrup. Healthy is different.
Even the veggies, like the pickles are full of preservatives and even food coloring.

I am not a calorie counter and I don't believe in counting calories, but 1200 calories, 12 grams of saturated fat and 1560 g of sodium in a meatball sandwich, that is promoted as ''fresh and healthy'' gives me the chills. Crazy world we live in!

We all have to learn to stop believing in commercials and junk people want to sell us. It is all about money and profit!
Nobody gives a sh... about your health!!!
We have to educate ourselves and always, always read ingredients and ask questions. Be in charge of your own health and future.
Make yourself a healthy sandwich with some sprouted, organic bread, hummus, avocado and tons of fresh veggies..that is what I call ''eat fresh''!

Raw Beet Burgers

I never really knew what to do with beets! Until I made this recipe for raw beet burgers.
Beets are a unique source of phytonutrients called betalains. Betanin and vulgaxanthin are the two best studied betalains from beets, and both have been shown to provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and detoxification support.
Be careful when you prepare beets, the pigments in beets can stain your clothes.

- 2 small beets
- juice of 1 lemon
- 2tbsp ground flax seed
- 2tbsp sesame seeds
- handful of parsley chopped
- 21 seasoning to taste
- salt and pepper to taste

Peel and chop beets and process in a food processor. Add all the other ingredients and process.
If mixture is to wet add more flax seed.
Form into patties and let set in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Serve on lettuce leaf or a sprouted bun with avocado and fresh homemade salsa!
I also like it with a little bit of mustard.
So good!

P90X-what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

I hope everybody has a beautiful and peaceful weekend.
The weather is so beautiful  in Chicago, the temperature is up and the mood is lifted. The winter jackets are banned in the back of the closet and the tank top and skirts are coming out.It is time to get in shape for bikini season! Well, that shouldn't be the only reason why you might want to pump up your workout.

There is almost nothing as rewarding as the feeling after an amazing workout, even if you had a sucky workout, no matter what you do, it is always better than no workout at all!

Since three weeks, my workouts consist of P90X. I have done it before but I have never completed the full 90 days yet. But this time there are no more excuses!
And let me tell you it works.!!!!It kicks your butt and leaves you drenched in sweat, oh and not to forget you will wake up with sore muscles for a long time.
The P90X workouts rock!

I love that I am able to workout in my P J's, first thing in the morning, and don't have to worry about driving to the gym or getting all dolled up for a sweat session.
Every day there is a different workout, legs, back, shoulders and arms, cardio, yoga, plyometrics and so much more. You won't get bored doing the same thing all the time.
Your body won't hit a plateau and will get challenged over and over again, with amazing results.
An hour a day can transform your body from average to ripped and lean in 90 days.

Is it easy, Hell No! Is it worth it, Oh Yes, you will feel like a different person!

It is a challenge to finish and press play every day, but the way you feel after you have completed any P90X workout is worth any pain. You feel stronger everyday, you are more durable and more flexible.

As important as the workouts are, without the right nutrition you won't get the results you want! Always remember it is 80% what you put into your body and 20% that you work out!
Garbage in, garbage out.
You will never be able to out work a bad diet!
I never followed the P90X nutrition plan because it is very animal protein based. But there are substitutions available. I know that the new P90X 2 comes with a vegan nutrition plan.

I like to follow Brendan Braziers Thrive diet.Brendan is a former Iron man and Triathlete. His diet is based on nutrient rich foods, like greens, veggies, fruit, nuts and seeds. He follows a high raw vegan diet, for maximum performance and quick recovery. I love his approach and it works for me!

If you really want to get in shape and live a healthy and happy life, try P90X and follow a plant based whole foods diet! Be amazed what your body can do, if you take care of it!
